So, I wonder what happened to the promised "Foundation edition"? (" -- A
free JBuilder 2006 Foundation edition available for download today
(http://www.borland.com/downloads/download_jbuilder.html)

The only "Foundation" I see there is the 600MB Enterprise Trial "and
Foundation".

I'd love to see the Java SE 6 update for JB2006, though!

"promised"? It's there. That's the only one. If there was going to be
another one, it would have been there by now. You guys are going to
have to get over it, and either download the Enterprise Trial, or live
without.

Actually, the article says very clearly "A free JBuilder 2006
Foundation edition available for download". That cannot be
construed to mean "a free Foundation edition downloaded as an
Enterprise version" by any stretch of the imagination: a "free
JBuilder 2006 Foundation edition" is not equal to an evaluation
copy of Enterprise. The reader expects to see a downloadable
Foundation edition which is in the range of 50 MB to 100 MB,
not 600 MB!

Something is either not right in the wording, intention, or
implementation, because what is available at the given URL is no
different from what was previously available -- the Enterprise
download. Somebody has some explaining to do.

The Foundation Edition includes a 30day Enterprise trial. After 30 days,
falls back to the foundation featureset. At this time there isn't a 50-100mb
foundation "only" w/o the Enterprise trial. For JB2007 we are planning
something
different and will be aiming at light weight d/l's. -m

How can Borland present a 3 year plan if they're planning to dump the entire division as quickly as possible?
The buyer will be the one to determine the future, not Borland, and if the future of products purchased by others is similar to that of things that were purchased in the past by most companies (including Borland) that future is none too bright.
