There won't. When I read the announcement on BDN my immediate thought was that it was effectively an end-of-life announcement for JBuilder.

I expect the next "JBuilder" to be Eclipse with some plugins, pretty much like Websphere WSAD from IBM.

Having used Eclipse for 2 years prior to reverting to JBuilder I can only express my horror at that. Eclipse is nice, don't get me wrong, but it is nowhere near to JBuilder and a few plugins can't create anything that compares.

And no, I doubt it's an April Fool's joke. It fits in far too well with the vision I have of the future of JBuilder based on statements made by Borland execs about the Eclipse involvement.

I'd hate to see it happen but if this comes to pass Borland will have finally lost me as a customer after more than a decade.

Which would actually be good for Eclipse...

So, does this mean that Eclipse will now have
"Help" buttons available in all its dialogs?

(Currently, not one has a Help button. This will
be huge progress for Eclipse. I guess it pays
to pay for your IDE.)

Save time, search the archives:
http://www.borland.com/newsgroups/ngsearch.html

Is it in Joi Ellis's Faq-O-Matic?
http://www.visi.com/~gyles19/fom-serve/cache/1.html

Finally, please send responses to the newsgroup only.
That means, do not send email directly to me.
Thank you.

No, it means JBuilder no longer will have those help buttons as JBuilder is going to be the name of a set of Eclipse plugins if my crystal ball is working correctly...
